Wild Mountain Mommies Review & Giveaway*CLOSED

Christine of Wild Mountain Mommies sent me one of her diapers
to test out one of her new diapers!

love the color combo

The Wild Mountain Mommies' diaper (a.k.a. WMM) that
I received is a One Size All-in-Two style.
The tongue like insert features two snaps underneath
that snaps-into the inner part of the diaper.

the snap-in soaker
This insert is made of a very soft cotton blend and backed
with a what looks like a hemp material.
The insert or soaker is extremely soft and absorbent.

The diaper itself is made up of an inner material that is soft
probably a cotton -fleece blend, the out is made of a super
stretchy PUL material, that makes this diaper waterproof.

This PUL material really reminds me of the PUL that is used in KnickerNappies.
The tabs have a matching flannel material that makes the hunter green
look pretty feminine.

The WMM diaper has a three row snap closure.
The wings can cross over to provide a nice, secure fit for littler waists.
The front has two rows of snaps for closure and
an additional two rows to adjust the rise this diaper.

The thighs and waist have a hidden elastic that
provides a nice, cinched fit at the back and around the legs.

This diaper is so cute.
My mother hardly comments on new diapers

but this one caught her eye!
She loved the matching flannel tabs that coordinated
with the hunter green PUL.

The WMM diaper has many features that I love but
there are always room for improvements.
The WMM 3rd snap on Lilly
WMM 3rd

The tabs on the WMM diaper were a bit odd.
There are 3 rows of snaps on the tabs but
the front of the diaper only has two.
Which leaves the bottom part to be of no use.
There also is a bit of wing droop,
maybe a hip snap would prevent this from happening.

See how much EXTRA diaper there is? It is very large!
The diaper seems a bit large.
Lillian is 32lbs+ but still this diaper has
so much extra room in it.
I can't imagine it fitting a tiny baby very well
even though it is a One Size diaper.
It fits Olivia rather well but even on the medium rise it sits very high.

WMM diaper on my 18lb+ 5month old
WMM on my 32lb 2.5yr old

There are a lot of details I love about the WMM diaper.
  • stretchy outer PUL
  • absorbent tongue like soaker
  • no wicking issues
  • The thigh/waist elastic
  • strong, well anchored snaps
  • soft inner material
  • attractive matching flannel wings
  • high rise in rear, fits well over bum

Cloth made it in the Memphis newspaper!

I live in a city that isn't very "Green" but slowly
Eco-friendly, natural life choices are becoming more and more
prominent and popular!

Recently I was contacted by a reposter from the commercial
appeal about an article she wanted to write about cloth diapers!
 I was beyond tickled.
This is finally a step in the right direction, especially for a city that
doesn't even have a brick and mortar cloth diaper store.

As I have mentioned before, I am co-hosting
The Great Cloth Diaper Change-2011
here in Memphis on April 23,2011.
Two of the Three other mamas that are helping were also contacted
about this article, Rachel (Grounds Crew) and Ashley (Crunchy Clean).

Want to read the article?
Check it out HERE

Our facebook page has already jumped in fans!
This is such a monumental step for cloth diaper advocacy here.
When Rachel first started the page to share
about The Great Cloth Diaper Change
and she never imagined that there were
so many local cloth diapering mamas.
Now we have close to 50 partipants registered for the event and more
signin up ever day! If you want to be a part of helping us
set a world record for the most cloth diaper changes at once.
Visit HERE to find a location near you
or HERE for Memphians.

Needless to say I am elated!
I can only dream of how this will change the view
of cloth diapers in my city!

Tommee Tippee Review & Giveaway*CLOSED

I can't count the number of sippy cups we have purchased
that are labeled "Spill Proof" but really aren't.
How upsetting and disappointing it can be to buy something
and find that it is a complete waste of money!
We try to live on a budget and wasting money on items that
don't do the job they are supposed to is not in that budget.

Tommee Tippee makes several baby and toddler feeding supplies.
The Tommee Tippee line has products from birth to 24months plus,
including bottles, sterilizers, tableware, sippy cups and more!

I received two Tommee Tippee Truly Spill Proof drink cups,
from their Explora line, for Lillian to try out.

The prints are just too cute!
As soon as I opened the package Lillian yelled
"Oh, pretty sippy cups! Thanks Mommy!"
{lol}

Immediately I could tell a difference in the Tommee Tippee cups
compared to our other 'brand name' sippy cups.

The Explora cup is made of 3 separate components,
the body which hold the liquid, the lid that screws tightly to the
body and the inner valve that fits into the mouth piece
on the inside of the lid.

The inner plug or valve is very unique.
It fits securely in place and doesn't just pop out like other can.

The cup itself is very sturdy and durable.
We all know that toddlers are very destructive in nature,
well at least mine is.
So the Explora sippy cups are perfect for that.
Already in the short time we have had them Lillian
has thrown them on the tile floor and on concrete a few times.
But they never once has the inner valve came out, the cup cracked
and the lid has always stayed on.

The Explora cups are
  • microwave and dishwasher safe!
  • BPA Free
  • Insulated, keeping drinks cool
  • Easy to drink

Watch their demonstration video on how to clean the Explora cups:

I am a Tommee Tippee convert, they are great.
{Does that sound corny?}
No wonder they are the preferred brand in Britain
and moms across the world!

BUY:
Tommee Tippee products are exclusively sold

WIN:
Tommee Tippee would like to give ONE
lucky reader a two pack of Explora Truly Spill Proof

cups like I received. {You choose color}

[I am] Crazy 4 Fluff- Featured on Friday

[I am] Crazy 4 Fluff Friday's

~ME~

1. What's your name? Tell me a little about yourself/your family/etc
I am Toni George. I am a 24yr old stay at home mother and married
to the love of my life, my best friend Will, who is my greatest support.
We have two beautiful daughters, Lillian and Olivia.
They make my world go round; I would be lost without them!
We currently live in Memphis, Tennessee but hope to
relocate to North-West Georgia within the next year
or at least before the girls start school.

2. How long have you been cloth diapering? Why did YOU choose cloth?
I started cloth diapering in August of 2010 when Lillian was 22months old. But the journey began in April of that same year when after a severe diaper rash would not heal! I was lead t believe that it was my fault,  until a friend from high school shared with me that she started using cloth on her two boys because of a horrible rash and they were rash free. From that point on I KNEW I would switch to cloth but it took me several months to do my research and finally make the plunge. I wish I would have known sooner because it has been the easiest and best choice I have EVER made for our family.

3. How has your choice to cloth diaper affected your family and friends? In the beginning my whole family was skeptical; they all thought I was loony. But now after they have seen how easy it is and how much better it is, they are very supportive. My husband has made the biggest change of them all. When Lillian was just a baby he would gag during every poopy diaper change, but now he helps out 100% with cloth, he even sprays out a poopy!  If my hubby can cloth diaper.. Anyone can!

4. What is your Go-To diaper? Why? Lillian- Blueberry because they are extremely absorbent and provide a great trim fit or FuzziBunz OS, the fit is sooo trim. We do have leaking issues every once in a while because she is such a heavy wetter. Olivia- a BumGenius AIO because they hold all the horrible explosive poo J

5. What is your favorite type? Why?
I prefer pockets over anything. Stuffing even seems a bit soothing! I love that I can add extra absorbency when needed, especially for nighttime.

6. How do you wash your diapers? Any tips or advice for newbies?
It has taken me a little time to get a good wash routine down pat. I wash daily beacue I have two in diapers and I can’t stand having too many diapers in the pail at once. I start out with a cold rinse with the occasion Bac-Out to help with the stinkies. It just takes a little to give the diapers a nice fresh citrusy scent.

7. I know you're a fluff addict, tell me about it! No judging here! Promise.
I am completely obsessed. Sometimes I feel like it is a bit of a love hate relationship..
I initially thought I would save money switching to cloth but when I became obsessed with fluff I started spending too much time, energy and money on diapers. I have calmed down but I occasionally buy a diaper just to feed that addiction, even when I don’t need one!

8. How big is your fluff stash? How many? What kinds?
I have too many! Every time I count I lose track or forget a few.
But I roughly have about 105.
This includes:
1 Mommy’s Touch
1 Doopsy
1 Best Bottom
1 Soft Bums Echo/ 3 inserts

** I think that’s it.. haha! I have more on the way {blush}

9. Show me a picture of your stash!

Some of our stash. Minus our small diapers, wool and about 15 dirty.

10. What was your very first diaper? Do you still use it?
My very first diaper was a fitted from HeidiOh diapers. We still use it every now and again! I did a review of her diapers back in December.

11. Tell me more... Has using cloth diapers made you take other steps in Going Green? Switching to cloth has changed my outlook on EVERYTHING that I use on a daily basis. I try to find ways to be more GREEN. I have switched to reusable baggies, cloth wipes, I no longer use paper plates, I am in the process of using family cloth and unpaper towels and as soon as AF returns, I will be using Mama Cloth!

12. Anything else you want to share? Any tips and/or advice about CD'ing?
Reach out to other mams! There are a ton of mamas that want to help and truly can give some of the BEST advice! I spent so many months so overwhelmed but truthfully I was over analyzing everything! It wasn’t until I started asking other mamas that I started to really understand how easy cloth diapering really is. I have made so many friends, most of whom I’ve never met through cloth diapering.. They are all truly amazing women!
