Cheeky Cloth Review & Giveaway*CLOSED

For me, there is something so special in buying
a handmade cloth diaper.
The time and energy put forth into creating
them is so very evident and this is why I
find such joy in buying from the great women
who make fluff!

Shannon, a mother and wife, chose to
cloth diaper her youngest child in efforts
to save a little money in her one income household.
She found that she was bored of the plain
colors cloth diapers that were available
so she started sewing her own.
Soon thereafter Cheeky Cloth was born.

Shannon said:
"I’ve have been sewing since the age of 12
and with the help of my Nana and Mother
I received a healthy dose of sewing knowledge.
My love of sewing has been on again off again
until I recently acquired some great new machines.
I’ve been making nursing covers and burp cloths
for friends as shower gifts for a few years now and
with their encouragement decided that I wanted to
share my designs with customers.
I use quality fabrics and make sure that every
item I make has care put into it. I love the satisfaction
of putting in my hard work and seeing the finished product"

Cheeky Cloth has a shop on Etsy where Shannon
sells her handmade fluffy goodness for all us
cloth diapering addicts!
The gorgeous prints were immediately what caught my attention.
I prefer prints and like to have a print that
not every one else may have;
That's exactly what Cheeky Cloth provides.

Cheeky Cloth sent me their Orchard print fitted for review.

Cheeky Cloth's fitted cloth diapers are made
with luxuriously soft Organic Bamboo Velour for
the inner and the outer is made with this
funky and fruity cotton knit fabric;
There is also a hidden layer of Bamboo Fleece.

The soaker of this diaper has two snaps that
securely fasten to the inner of the diaper.
It is made with the same buttery soft OBV
which makes me a little jeaous that I don't have
mama cloth as soft as this. ;)

As all other fitteds, this diaper does require
a cover to be waterproof but it very absorbent
and you may find, as did I, that a cover isn't necessary
for wear, especially around the house.

This fitted is a One-Size diaper
and is made to fit babies ranging from 10lbs to 35lbs.
There are rows of snaps located on the front of the
diaper which adjust the rise of the diaper.

This allows for the diaper to be customized
to fit even little bitty babies or chunky monkeys
like my little Olivia.
Lillian wanted to put the Cheeky Cloth diaper on
her baby doll.

As you can see this diaper fits her baby doll
very well!! I can imagine it would fit a baby
very well!

This diaper is smaller than the majority
of Olivia's One Size diapers and I was
doubtful that it would fit her.
But to my surprise it does, and it fits very well.
The crotch is very narrow, so it rests perfectly
between her chubby thighs.

The rise in the front is low but it covers her
high rise bum in the back very well.

The print is simply yummy.
My mother rarely comments on Olivia's diapers
but this one is one of her favorites!
(She has her kitchen decorated in fruit)

The waist and thighs are very stretchy
and they leave no red marks or indentations.

Cheeky Cloth diapers are wonderful and
made with love and care, which is evident.
They are absorbent, fit great and the prints
are to die for!

Would you like to put your little one is

Grits and Giggles Review & Giveaway*CLOSED

As a mama of two little girls with grabby little, curious hands
I don't wear jewelry very often, especially necklaces.
Not only do I worry about them pulling to hard and breaking
but I also worry about the safety of my girls
because they naturally want to put everything in their mouths.

Grits and Giggles knows that Mamas (Especially Southern Gals)
love to wear their pearls but don't want their children chewing on them.
So, a wonderful solution: Teething Pearls.

Teething Pearls are a Mamas best friend and fashion accessory
or least it surely has became mine.
These necklaces are made of unfinished wood beads
that are wrapped in fabric (linen or 100% cotton).
Each bead is separated by a knot which babies can
safely gnaw away on.
The fabric the covers the beads absorbs the drool
that comes along with chewing and gnawing.

Teething Pearls by Grits and Giggles are available in a
variety of colors.
I chose the Tootie Fruity Teething Pearls as my favorite
and the comments I get on this necklace is outstanding.
The bright colors match nearly every outfit I own and
the "funky" details definitely fit my personality.

Grits and Giggles' Teething Pearls are 18" long not including
the ribbon that ties at the end.
It can be tied as long or as short as you need it to be.
I have a short neck, so I prefer to let mine hang low
so not as too make my neck appear shorter than normal!

Not only are the Teething Pearls a great accessory
but Olivia loves to play with them.
She will sit still just chewing and chewing.
I really think that the beads and knots, plus the
soft outer fabric must feel nice against her swollen
baby gums and new teeth.

Even Lillian like my Teething Pearls
but not as a chew toy,
She wants to wear them like Mama!

The owner of Grits and Giggles is a southern mama named JeniLyn
who in her spare time likes to make items for her little girl and herself.
Her Etsy shop is full of handcrafted for mom and baby alike.
Her shop offers more than just the Teething Pearls..
I love the handmade earrings, bags, dresses and more!

BUY:
Grits and Giggles signature item, the Teething Pearls,
are availalble at her Etsy shop.
Retails for $13.00

WIN:
Jenilyn from Grits and Giggles has generously
offered to give ONE lucky reader a $15 gift certificate
to spend in her Etsy shop.
That is plenty to purchase a set of Teething Pearls
or whatever you heart desires.

My Life As It Is Now

It has been so long since I have actually blogged
that you may have forgotten that I even exist,
but I ensure you that I am still here and I will not
let this chapter in my life get me down!

As some of you may know, I am currently
separated from my husband of five years.
He wants a divorce and now our two girls
and I are living with my mother.

I have been a stay at home mom for close
to three wonderful years now but in the
very near future I will be looking for a job.
It makes my heart so very heavy to think about
leaving my girls in the care of a babysitter
while I go to work but unfortunately that
is what I have to do to support my girls and myself.

Since the separation from my husband I have been
overwhelmed from the out-poor of kind messages
and emails, wishing me strength to get through this.
The amount of loving words and sayings of prayers
for my girls and myself warm my very soul.

My life as it is now is nowhere near that I ever imagined
it to be but I know that I will manage to pick
up the pieces and keep on going.
There will be a wonderful rainbow after this storm,
that I now for certain.
When that rainbow may appear is a mystery
but I will keep my chin up and look for it daily.

I will try my best to not neglect my blog
and all you wonderful Crazy 4 Fluff followers.
I won't be as available as I have been in the past
but I do have big plans in store for this blog
and I hope you all stick around for the journey
that I am about to embark on.
This chapter in my life will be over soon
and then I will be on to brighter and better things.
Once again Thank you all for all the thoughts, prayers
and loving kindness you continue to show me..
I can't express my gratitude and appreciation enough.

Rocket Bottoms Review & Giveaway*CLOSED

Addicted to cloth diapering but tired of spending all
that cash for all that fluff?
Can you sew? How about making your own cloth diapers!
At Rocket Bottoms they believe that everyone should be able
to sew their own "fantastic fitting snuggly soft fluffy cloth diapers"
and they make it happen one pattern at a time!
cloth diaper patterns are sold through
their Hyena Cart, so if you have a basic knowledge
of how to sew than you too can sew your own fluff stash!

Unfortunately I am, how do I saw this, domestically challenged!
I can barely sew a button on, let alone run a sewing machine.
But I would love to learn how to sew and it would be
awesome if I could feed my fluff addiction by making my own diapers.
I think that might be just as addictive as buying them.

Rocket Bottoms provides several different diaper patters.
If you like fitted like I do, then they have the One-Size Fitted Pattern;
or if you are a Pocket diaper fan they also have the Twist Patter!
This is only 2 of the patterns available,
see their Hyena Cart shop for more!

Rocket Bottoms sent me a One Size fitted diaper for review.

I am in love with this fairy wings print,
So feminine and girly!
I hardly ever use a cover over fitteds and when out
in public this diaper has definitely gotten some compliments!
(Sure can't get a sposie this cute)

This Rocket Bottoms diaper is a fitted as I mentioned,
so it is not waterproof, but I like the fact that fitteds are
so breathable and allow air to travel through.
We all know that air flow "down there" is a must. ;)
With Olivia being a chunky baby, fitteds keep her cooler
and she has less problems with heat rash on her vagina and inner thighs.

The closure on the Rocket Bottoms fitted I received
has snaps, but the pattern indicates that you can also
leave it without a closure and use a snappi or a pin.

I love the narrow crotch of the Rocket Bottoms fitted pattern!
It fits great between Olivia's rolly polly thighs but not too
narrow as to cause leaks!

This pattern also includes pieces for the snap in style contour soaker.
The Rocket Bottoms fitted I received has a knit outer material
with a hidden layer bamboo french terry and inner layer of
heavy cotton velour.
The soaker is a two petal snap in soaker.
Top petal is three layers of cotton velour
and the bottom petal is one layer of cotton velour
and two layers of bamboo french terry.
I love that she used all natural materials.
Of course when making your own diaper you can
use whichever materials you prefer!

The fit on this diaper is wonderful and I grab for this
diaper ALOT!
Nice high rise in the rear and rests nicely below the naval.
Snug fit around the hips and as I mentioned earlier nice
narrow fit through the crotch.
This diaper easily fits under all of my wool and PUL covers
and is absorbent enough to last a few hours!

This review makes me want to learn how to sew.
I know I need a new hobby.. Why not take up a hobby
that I can make things for my girls and diapers to fill
my ever growing stash?
This pattern is wonderful and if I ever get up the nerve
and take the plunge into sewing..
I WILL USE THE ROCKET BOTTOMS PATTERNS!

Do you know how to sew?
Interested in sewing your own fluff?
Would you like a Rocket Bottoms diaper for your little one?

BUY:

Rocket Bottoms patterns are available from
their Hyena Cart.
Remember this is for the pattern only!

WIN:
Rocket Bottoms has generously offered to give ONE
lucky reader a Rocket Bottoms OS fitted like I reviewed.
Rocket Bottoms will choose the fabric but the winner
will be able to choose gender (neutral, boy or girl)

Boba Carrier Giveaway Winner!

The winner of the Boba Carrier giveaway is:

Out of 1348 entries.. Number #686- LindaHnub

Congratulations! You have won a Boba carrier of your choice!
Please respond to my email within 48 hours to claim your prize
or I will have to draw another winner.
Thank you all so very much for entering, I wish I could have
given all of you a Boba carrier.

Boba Carrier Review & Giveaway

We see it all over the world, women working out in
the field or at markets with their children worn on their backs.
It is second nature to them, the work must get done and the babies
often have to go along- so they are wrapped in long scraps of fabric
and go along for the ride.
Imagine the close bond between those two;
Mom doesn't just plop her baby in a basket beside her
she remains close to her young one but manages to keep
her hands free to work.

Baby-wearing isn't just seen in third world countries.
Yes, most of these women seen above more than
likely wear their baby out of necessity but
I image the child to enjoy being close to their mothers.
A lot of mothers in more fortunate circumstances
have chosen to wear their babies for many reasons.

I discovered baby-wearing with my first child,Lillian,
but unfortunately was very uneducated and ill informed about
good carriers and proper safety measures.
I had a very inexpensive soft carrier and a sling
but both fit my plus size body funny
and neither worked well for me.
My BWing lasted only a few weeks and I assumed
I was just destined to carry my little one on my hip.
(Which KILLED my hips, back, and arms)

With the birth of my second child, Olivia, I was
given a stretchy wrap and instantly fell in love.
The ability to wear her while tending to my toddler
made our daily routine extremely easy; but
the joy was short lived as my wrap only held
babies up to 15 pounds.
(Olivia hit 15lbs at less than 3 months old.)
I was intimidated by the huge variety of woven wraps
so I started looking into a soft structured carrier
and that is when I heard about Boba!

Boba was created by the maker of the Sleepy Wrap,
when his child outgrew the stretchy wrap, but other
soft structured carriers were not comfortable for him.
Here is Boba's story:

"We are a big advocate of baby wrap carriers for
infants and small babies and our son virtually
lived in the Sleepy Wrap for his first 16 months of life.
As he became bigger we started looking for
something more practical to be able to continue carrying him.

Soft structured carriers were new to us.
We experimented with a few different carriers
available on the market.
It wasn’t so much that they were digging into our shoulders,
but more the feeling of our son not being secure
and leaning away from our bodies in the back carries.
He also complained that his legs didn’t feel good
even when seated facing our back in a wide seated carrier.

So for one year he refused to be carried.
Most would think that a blessing. Well, the problem
was that he still wanted to be carried, but only in our arms.
We started toying around with the idea of creating
our own soft structured carrier for toddlers after
successfully launching Sleepy Wrap more than 3 years ago.

We were always brainstorming and trying to figure
out how to make our design better and ended up
first adding a safety buckle so there would be no
spontaneous releases. Then a light bulb went on.
We just had the best idea- foot straps- to get that
digging fabric off of little hamstrings, prevent
bigger legs from just hanging and just give them a
place to rest- just like the rungs we rest our
feet on when we sit on a bar stool.
After eleven different prototypes and almost one
year of going back and forth, we finally got it right.
Our son turned 3 by the time our final prototype
was made and although he’s a big guy, he loves it.

We couldn’t compromise; we had to get it right.
They had to be butter soft and we even took the
extra step of making them with only certified organic cotton.
To top it all off, we decided to make them right here
in our home town of Boulder, CO with the
help of local mountaineering professionals.

And the Boulder Baby carrier- the “BoBa” was born."

The Boba carrier is soft structured baby carrier that is
designed to hold children from 15-45lbs.
Perfect for carrying either of my children;
Olivia(8months) at 23lbs
&
Lillian(2y8mo) at 33lbs

Boba can be worn as a front and back carrier
and generously fits most adults,
Even myself and my husband who are larger than most.

"No more picture Mama!"

The Boba has an attached foot strap for older children;
These unique leg straps:
  • enables a healthy sitting position for your child
  • provide proper leg support in the flexed abducted position
  • naturally tilt the pelvis, fills out hip sockets, aligns spine
  • the more leg support the less pressure absorbed by the spine
  • takes the pressure off of the hamstrings
  • reduces the leg dangle
  • gives feet a place to rest
  • ensures complete blood flow throughout legs
  • no pinching of the major nerve behind the thigh

Lillian definitely seemed much more comfortable with
the foot straps than she does in other back carriers.
The high rise back of the Boba is a great feature,
covering the whole back of Olivia and supporting
Lillian's back just as well.
I have no issues with Olivia trying to push away from
my back, she was always secure against me.

The buckle waist band and shoulder support are
oddly my favorite features.
Very easy to put on, even alone, and comfortable..
the buckles don't dig in to my skin.

Each Boba comes with a matching sleep hood
that detaches when not needed or can be rolled into
the small compartment.
This hood is perfect for a little extra privacy to nurse
or when baby takes a nap. I also use it when the sun is really
bright and beating down on her head or once it
was raining and I used it as an umbrella. :)

Boba is available in two different fabrics: organic or classic.
Organic is available in 3 colors and Classic is available in 6.

I chose the Pine Organic Boba!
  • made her in the USA.
  • 100% GOTS and OE100 certified organic cotton
  • 100% organic Texas cotton lining
  • butter soft
  • no snaps
  • no buttons
I am in love with my new Boba!
I wear it every chance I get.. almost daily.
With a toddler and a clingy baby I am constantly struggling
to keep them both content at the same time.
My mei-tai was a little too time consuming to wrap
all by myself but with the Boba I can get Olivia on my
back without any assistance, though it did take some practice.
The Boba is used every time we go to the park, zoo,
grocery shopping, when I wash dishes,
hang the diaper on the line, etc.
It is definitely a busy moms best friend.
Doing dishes with the Boba!
Even though my children are no lightweights
(23lbs and 32lbs)
when I carry them with the Boba they seem nearly weightless.
The Boba carrier distributes their weight properly;
No stress on the back, hips, arms or shoulders.

At the park with the Boba
When out in public with my Boba I always get comments,
it never fails! Someone usually asks me where I got it
(I'm thinking of handing out business cards ;) )
or makes a comment on how convenient it looks for me
or how comfortable Olivia/Lillian appear.

Boba keeps Olivia close to me at all times.
Olivia prefers to be worn!
Lillian even likes it too on occasion;
She is much more independent and would much rather
walk on her own, but at times when she is tired she
greatly enjoys going for a "back-ride".

Olive is very content
The Boba Carrier is very daddy friendly as well!
My hubby has no problem wearing it, though he hasn't mastered
getting Olivia on his back without assistance.

"Giddy up Daddy!"

I use the Boba the majority of times but when he needs it,
it is very simple. He is also much more comfortable in
the Boba Carrier than in our mei-tai.
Like I mentioned before we are both heavy but the
Boba fits us both great!

I love baby-wearing with my Boba carrier not only because it keeps my hands
free while holding Olivia, but I love that it promotes Attachment Parenting.
Like in other cultures, baby-wearing is out of necessity, it also
nurtures a healthy continued bond between child and parent.
