New You 2011: Week One

Week One:

About Me: My name is Toni and I have weight issues most of my life.
But since I got married in 2006, it has been a constant struggle.
Now 4.5years and 2 babies later, I'm at my wits end!
It's time for a change.. a New Me!

My Weaknesses: Eating out!.
With a clingy infant and my distaste for cooking,
It is so convienent for hubby to just pick something up on his way home from work or order in!

My Goal: I currently weigh 220lbs (That took a lot of courage to share!)
I want/need to lose 75lbs before the end of the year.
So, I need to lose a minimum of 1.5lbs a week!- Very possible!

I know I'm not in this alone.
Not only do I have you bloggers by my side, but my husband and mother are joining me as well.
I try not to look at this as diet, but a life style change!

I think you could definitely lose 75lbs by the end of the year! My goal is 50 by the end of this year (I've lost almost 25lbs in the last 6 months, so I think it's possible). Good luck!

Good job! you will do great. You'd be surprised how much money you can save by not eating out, too. Do you have a slow cooker? If you hate to cook, you will love the slow cooker. You can make anything in it! You throw everything in, forget about it and then it is ready.

That is so awesome!! I know you will do it!! Good Luck!! I like the suggestion of the slow cooker for someone who doesn't like to cook, if you try it, make sure you blog about it so we can see how it went!!

Toni, great goal. Take it one day at a time. Don't beat yourself when you have days where you are not so good b/c they will happen. Just start fresh again the next day! Agree with the slow cooker. I am blessed that my hubby does most of the cooking, but when I do, I like the slow cooker or dutch oven!

Thanks mamas! I'm pretty optimistic.. I even went out and bought a double stroller last night so I have NO excuses to go out and walk. Even if it's cold, I can bundle up the babies real good... And go burn some calories!

Good luck to you, too! I definitely have a weakness for eating out too! Your goal is totally reasonable and you can totally do it!

Thanks for linking up :) \
You are going into this with a wonderful mindset.
You can do it, and with support of others it will be even better.
I , too, have a knack for picking up fast food. It's a habit that I desperately need to work on. Eating better and getting healthier!
Hope to see you next week!

Thanks for sharing! I wish you all the best. I was a cronic eater-outer (not a word but still going with it)
I have found great joy in preparing meals for my family & also have great movitation not to eat out after reasearching what is REALLY in my food! My best advice to anyone looking to kick eating out...know what/how its made. My sister works for a "taco" place & she wont even discribe what they serve as meat! I loved to eat there, not so much now!
Anyhow I'm here for support anytime & you're always welcome to vent, complain, whine, or yell I wont judge! heavens knows us moms get the grunt of everyone else & never really get to vent back, so open invite!
Blessings,
Melly

Thanks for the honesty! I could stand to loose 50 lbs over here. You may have secretly inspired me to start to try.
I wish you the best of luck. Keep us updated on your progress!

In between babies two and three, I lost 102 pounds! I was a college athlete who just let herself go. Anything is possible, and loosing weight in one anything! :) A few suggestions...start with a small goal. Your end goal is in sight (loosing 75 pounds), but along the way you need to keep yourself working towards something small. Baby steps, if you will. Otherwise, you will get frustrated and lose interest. I picked running as my lifestyle change. I wanted to get moving. My end goal was to run a marathon and my small goals were races leading up to that marathon. This logic can be applied to any exercise or lifestyle change. Good luck!!! You can do it!

Good luck! It does take courage to share weights stories lol but it sure keeps us accountable. I got up to 210 with recent baby, but with first 2 I topped at 175 so when I got to 175 non-preggo I did the total lifestyle change of eating strict vegetarian & hitting the gym 6 days a week (3 days cardio/3 days strength training & toning). I stayed at 140 for a while then slowly put some weight back on (maybe more muscle cause I didn't go up in since a whole lot, but I then got pregnant & gained waaay more so now I've been sitting between 170-175 for a bit & need to get back to eating better & exercising with baby. It's so easy to slip, but I'm thankful that i know that I can do it with some hard work. Good to see others sharing about getting fit to help motivate me. Eating out should be outlawed for us too. Check out this blog for crockpot recipes but read comments as they may be a first try recipe with better idea in the comments http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/2007/12/alphabetical-listing-of-recipes.html?sms_ss=facebook&at_xt=4d2126c0dd759849,0

GO you! I'll be here rooting you on as your newest follower!

Have you tried freezer cooking? I know it still involves cooking but it's over in one day and you have a whole months worth of foods in your freezer! Cheaper and better for you than eating out :)

Good luck!

My goal was 60 just so I didn't disappoint myself. You can do it! 75 is definitely doable. Do your kiddos give you a chance to get exercise in?
Not sure what to say about the eating out. We have limited ours lately mainly for financial reasons so it has definitely helped healthwise. I love our crock pot that was so graciously given to us after Tabitha was born almost 4 years ago. It is so easy to throw something in and just leave it. Let me know if you would like some ideas.
